Shiv Shivakumar was the first keynote speaker at PRAXIS8. Shiv Shivakumar is Group Executive President, Corporate Strategy - Aditya Birla Group. ‘Trust is at the core of Public Relations’ was the theme for the 8th edition of PRAXIS.
Shiv Shivakumar addressed the audience by speaking about ‘TRUST’. He mentioned a brilliant phrase during his keynote, that is ‘ Trust is, you won’t hurt me when I am vulnerable.’ He also shared a story about a husband and a wife and the trust between them which goes like, once he was in a flight and there was a lot of turbulence, all the passengers were scared and panicked. A lady was sitting beside him and she was very calm and quiet. Mr. Shivakumar got very curious and asked the lady how is she sitting so calmly? “It’s my husband flying the plane”, the lady answered. Through this story, shiv Shivakumar wanted to tell that this type of trust is needed between a brand and consumer.
He also shared a Tropicana story, that in Bangalore, when Tropicana got into a problem than to resolve the problem they got a mother from Gurgoan to talk about the trust she had with the brand. They did this so that people believe them and they can get the consumer's trust back. He also said that these days NGOs have the highest trust of people. Mr. Shiv Shivakumar also told that only 38% of people believe the brand that they use.
Through this keynote, I got good learning about 'TRUST'.
