11. Special Address by Richa Chadda at PRAXIS8

Updated: Dec 12, 2019

On the second day of PRAXIS8, we had a special address by Actor Richa Chadda. As the theme for the 8th edition of PRAXIS was ‘Building Trust is at the Core of Public Relations’. Richa Chadda spoke on the topic- ‘ The need for a more trusting world’.

She started her speech with a very brilliant phrase by Rumi- “There is a voice that doesn’t use words.” She shared her experience that how she succeeded by trusting herself in every situation. “Trusting on guts has been my rock before starting my career.” Said by Richa Chadda. When she shifted to Bombay for her career, her acting coach Barry John also decided to move to Mumbai. In Mumbaiy she used to live at 6K rent with a roommate of Film and Television Institute of India (FTTI).

During her initial days of career, she got an opportunity to perform at a play that SRK had performed In 1988 when he was in Jamia college. Richa Chadda mentioned that she trusts at providence. Richa Chadda made her acting debut from the movie ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’. “I fight with all my might,” said Richa Chadda.

She started her career at the age of 20 and she came to Mumbai, a city very new to her. She said, “I forged my own path. This was life’s calling, I had faith in it.”She further said, “Trust is the most expensive thing in the world. Courage is a mix of fear and excitement.” According to Richa Chadda, ‘reputation’ is something that is crucial to trust. If we don’t trust our media, judiciary, the police, executive branch, it is when individuals feel helpless. There is a need to build a robust citizen bank. We pay tax, we deserve a good life.

I would like to end my blog with one of the statements she made in her speech which goes like “Being at your, best when you are stressed.”
